Hi. Does anyone know if this is a Polish hen or roo? We were told a hen when we bought he/she as a chick. But we saw "Sally" crowing yesterday so now I'm confused.

Cockerel. One thing about polish - the roos usually have rock star wild crest with streamers. Pullets usually have a nice full bushy crest ( like the old bouffant hairdo from the '70s)

Thanks for the tip! I am new at this and still learning! :)

Those long, thin feathers near the base of the tail are something only males grow.

My 14 year old has been saying he thought we had a rooster because of the tail feathers. I guess he knows what he is talking about!

Yes he does have some wild rooster tail feathers, but I was referring to the feathers on his back that hang down near the tail.
