Here's an Orpington chick that's obviously male. Had a big red comb since 2-1/2 weeks of age. He's from a project I'm working on, he's not going to be used though.View attachment 1938437 He's 8 weeks old in this picture.
Orpingtons are relatively easy to sex compared to most breeds. I feather sexed him as male at day 1, so I knew ahead of time. Here's the female, same age for comparison.View attachment 1938438 This is her coloring, she's going to be breedible to continue my project.View attachment 1938439

The female chick is crele. I'm using Wheaten instead of Black Breasted Red for the coloring I want.

All that shredding makes it difficult to determine 100% of what their gender is. I'm going to guess on their tails, the tails look Cockerel.
