Okay, so I’m jumping on the bandwagon and playing the game - “I know it’s too early to really tell but... do you think it’s a hen or a roo?”
Below are my lovely sweet chicks, all about 4-5 weeks old, as well as my notes for each pic on why I think I might have a lot of Roos!
#1 - Hedemora left, bantam Cochin right. Just finished chest bumping. Both have darker pink/reddish combs (Hedemora also chest bumps with the Faverolles )
#2 - Blue Silkie, are those “streamers” growing from his tuft??
#3 - Salmon Faverolles in foreground. Both have very dark feathers, and like to chest bump.
#4 - Polish. I am really hoping too early to tell on this one but have read the ladies have a ‘neat and tidy’ hairdo whereas the Roos look like “wild thing”
The one in the left can also frequently be found chest bumping.
#5 Bantam Cochins side by side to compare with the one in pic #1. At least the one on the right might be a hen?!!
