Still no eggs and no crowing! I’m very much leaning to hen as she’s now 28 weeks old. I feel like it’s be obvious by now if it was a boy, but I’d feel better if she laid an egg! But the eggs I’m getting are definitely not from her.
I am in central NJ so from what I’ve read as well I think she may wait until spring. I have a cuckoo marans that also has not yet laid but I know they start later in general. I definitely do not want to add artificial light or anything to my girls, I’ll get eggs when I get eggs. I was so concerned because I can’t keep a rooster and this is my favorite chicken of my four girls! LolWhere are you located? Birds tend to slow down production and even stop laying with decreased daylight. For pullets that haven't started yet, that could mean she won't lay til spring. My Gold laced wyandotte was the last one to lay and I had written her off as a next spring gal. She is almost as big like as a Sussex. If this a heritage thing, I am not sure. But I am sure that you have a pullet.
