I have 5 Golden Wyandottes I was told they were hens but I am wondering if I have a Roo? They are between 6 and 10 weeks old. Four of them don't have a pronounced comb and one has an upright comb and has had it for weeks. Is she a he?

:( what is the disadvantage and advantages to having a cockerel in the flock? I wasn't planning on this and a bit concerned.
For farm birds, he can give you fertile eggs that will hatch if you get a broody hen.

For showing, in that breed the comb is something undesirable.

Overall I like having a roo in the flock. He will help protect the birds. Often if you have a good one he will give his life protecting them. You don't have to have one to get eggs or have chickens.
