Hen or Roo?

I bought these French Copper Marans from a farm near me. I was told they are both hens but after introducing them to the flock the one seemed protective of the other. What do you think? Are these both hens?

Awesome thank you! I’ve purchased pullets of other breeds and were told they were hens but later found out they were Roos. So I’m nervous.

The first one is female. How old are they? I can't see the other ones feathers well. Anyway you could get the side view and more light on that one?
