Hen or Roo?

So I just recently got some new additions to the group. We got these from someone who gets pre sexed chicks and raises them until about 8 weeks. I was told these are about 9-11 weeks, give or take. I was told by my fiancee that she heard a "different sound, that sounded like a roo, but not a roo". I know some hens do a roo like sound when they are establishing a pecking order and we had 7 chickens already so I thought that could be the case, atleast from what I researched, but I could be wrong. I live in an area that doesnt allow roo's, I planned on waiting until I heard a definitive "cock a doodle doo" sound, before I made any decisions. Was hoping to get a couple opinions in the mean time though. Any input is appreciated.
