My parents retired to Texas near the Mexican border in 1990s. They were on a river a mile from the Gulf of Mexico. The fish came in with the tide. Even dolphins, pufferfish and little rays. Until a shrimp farm started inland across the road. At night they would dump the used water into a canal that emptied into the river, upstream from parents house.fish farming can do more damage

Slowly. I think Sylph is replacing more then she's losing now judging by the feather sheath bits on the coop floor. Mow is running about a week behind Sylph and doesn't want anyone close to her. She's sleeping in the nest box.How are the moults progressing? Are they getting their feathers back?

Dominica just started moutlting two days ago. 0C in the mornings.Slowly. I think Sylph is replacing more then she's losing now judging by the feather sheath bits on the coop floor. Mow is running about a week behind Sylph and doesn't want anyone close to her. She's sleeping in the nest box.
They are both eating the food I provide and from what I can tell from their crops, eating enough.
It seems rather late in the year to be moulting.![]()
Poor Mow's lost her tail!It pissed down from shortly after I arrived at the field right up to the point they went to roost, They got fifteen minutes of forage time and that was it for the day.

Are they quarreling, as children do when stuck inside during bad weather, or are they just sort of plugging along? It pissed down from shortly after I arrived at the field right up to the point they went to roost, They got fifteen minutes of forage time and that was it for the day.
