I’m a new chicken owner and I’m curious if my barred rock is really a roo! It’s comb seems really red for being around 7 weeks old! The comb looks a little more red in person then in the pictures. Also the most dominate of the group.

It’s saddle feather look a little more rounded, though. And there always is sort of a ‘leader’ in the group (she would be at the top of the pecking order). At first glance for me, I’d say pullet- maybe?
Wait for others to post their thoughts, there are some experts out there.

There is always a dominant hen when there isn't a rooster. There is usually one even with a rooster from my understanding but without a rooster they take on more of a leadership roll. I have two boss hens in two different flocks. One is supposed to be a docile breed and is definitely a female but she is a jerk and pecks at me when I try to pick her or the other pullets up. That might be the case with your bird-she's just the boss.

I’ve read that! I was just surprised with how red her comb and face is. She’s also a couple weeks younger than the rest so I’m surprised she’s the top of the pecking order 😂
