I bought 10 female golden laced Wyandottes end of august. I couldn’t pick to have just one rooster. So all females it was. However my favorite from day one has always looked a little off. “She” is bigger and completely different looking. I’ve been stuck between her being a different breed or being a rooster. I’m leaning towards rooster. Any insight? You can definitely tell the difference between the one in question and the for sure hens.

It has white earlobes, which Wyandottes shouldn't, so something is definitely off. I think time is going to tell on this one. I can't think of any pure breeds that would match this bird, and I am not sure what sex it is, either.

Whelp, my questionable chicken is a roo. Coming up on 6 months, he now crows. Here is a side pic of the brilliant white ears. Way different than my girls and their tan ears, I’m guessing he’s a mixed male that got thrown in. Do hatcherys really do that? Kinda dashes my hopes of breeding my hens. If anyone has thoughts on mixed breeds, that would be welcome. Thanks everyone!
