i bought this chicken yesterday. Chicken is 1 year old. She is suppose to be a hen, a maran/polish mix. She has some pretty long spurs. I know some hens can grow spurs, but doesn’t that normally happen in older hens. Is there any other way I can tell if it’s a hen or rooster? Or do I just have to wait to see if she lays or crows? Thanks in advance.

If the hens left ovary was destroyed by an infection, then the right ovary might develop into a testicle and the hen will exhibit male characteristics. Idk if that's the case with this hen but it is a possibility.
