Hen or rooster

A few weeks ago when my mother was visiting she told me that "Reddy" my favorite hen was really a Rooster. I politely and respectfully replied " Nope". Well this morning while watching them graze on Mulberrys Reddy mounted a hen. If this chicken is not a Rooster is this behavior normal? I mean I dont have a problem with her if this is her thing. However if this is a Rooster I need to know. How can I tell?He isn't crowing. Any help is appreciated.

How old is the chicken? Does it have a red comb and wattles? If you can supply this information, we could probably tell you it's a rooster without a photo.

this is my rooster he is a speckeled Sussex.

Well you see what mine looks like at 18 weeks. ut different breeds so dont know. I would think she would be crowing by know he was a rooster. Mine was crowing at 8 weeks.

Thank-You to all that weighed in. Having a Rooster wasn't in the plan,but oh well he is my favorite. He isn't the only surprise of the day...We have an EGG!!! Our first!
We haven't heard him crow at all. When will he start waking us up?
