Hen problem...need help

My one hen is having a strange thing happen at her butt. I noticed yesterday that she had poop all around her butt and now today there is missing feathers and it looks as though her skin is coming off of her butt. It looks like black tar and it smells really bad. It almost looks as though her skin is melting off. She is still eatting and drinking. Any idea as to what it could be?

Can you post a picture of her vent? Could she have had her vent pecked, or possibly have suffered a prolapsed vent that was pecked? You may want to soak her bottom in a warm soapy or Epsom salts bath for 20-30 minutes to clean it up. Below is a picture of a vent prolapse:

It could be Vent Gleet, but the only gjing that would really turn it black would be the poop, dried blood, or basically burning her skin from the acid in her poop. Check these out;
