I have a hen who hatched chicks about 3 and half weeks ago. Due to the cold temps then I decided to raise the chicks myself. I didnt put the hen back with a roo but with some young chicks about 10 weeks old she was with them for about 3 weeks and I decided it was time to put her back with the roo. She has been with him for about a week now and everytime he tries to mate with her she screams like he is killing her and runs from him. Could she still be in that broody state of mind? When will she come out of this??

It may not be nice to mess with mother nature...It is also not nice to watch baby chicks freeze to death either. Sorry, but from a bad happening I went through with one of my babies loosing its toes due to momma taking them out and sitting on ice with it under her and it has no toes I swore I'd never make the same mistake. So I guess I gave mother nature a big knuckle sandwitch.
