Hen pushing her guts out! Help!

She's eating and drinking good, I checked on her this morning and things are getting better. No egg but her bulge is smaller, I'm gearing up to give her another bath and some PrepH.

All healed up! I put her back in the coop on Saturday night and kept a close eye on her. She is back to normal! But....this morning I found this in the nesting box

Weird right? I'm assuming it is from that hen, maybe it was what she was trying to push out? I'm clueless!

Thank you for the links, they were very informative. I was curious and cut open the fleshy ball, the texture and smell was almost that of chicken meat. It came apart in 'layers' like a bunch of meat and tissue scraps were pressed together. I'll pick her up this evening and check her out just to be safe!

That looks likes what I just took out of a dead hen, you're lucky she's still alive. I'd be willing to bet it's egg(s) that were stuck there for quite some time.

First time I ever heard of it or saw anything like it.

This is what one of my hens passed awhile back. She was never the same, looking back she was internal lay, she died about 6 month after she had passed this strange looking thing and never laid anymore eggs. Picture is graphic.

Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! That's a lot! It's crazy that that much was inside the poor thing.... Thanks for posting the pictures though, it looks exactly like the lumpy thingy that I found. It would be interesting to see if she passes anything else.
