Hen raise store bought chicks?

I only have one hen left... she is very broody and feeling lonely. My local feed store has a bunch of new chicks, and I want to buy some babies. What are the chances that my broody hen will raise the babies?

Slip them under her during the night when she Is sleeping! She should do fine!

I've done it. Just make sure she's been sitting for a couple of weeks first. Good luck!

I do this pretty regularly. Just make sure you do it at night, and you have time to check up on her a few times in the first few hours.

So she just came off a few weeks of brooding. Will it still be okay to put them in with her? Do they have to be the same breed?

I will make sure I add them at night.

If she is no longer sitting on the nest and acting broody, I'd not attempt it. People who have tried it under those circumstances found that the hens attempted to kill the chicks. If she is still sitting and full on broody, just do it under cover of darkness....remove the eggs, place the chicks. I've done it several times with 100% success.
