It's only September and my chicken has started to lose feathers. I'm unsure whether or not it's because of molting.
Get the picture. She's an ameracauna hen surounded by 2 adult hens and 3 young 3 month old chicks. She's losing feathers rapidly and none of the other chickens are molting. it's not cold, It's hardly rained. She's squawking whenever I get Near her and is losing feathers mainly on her wings. Last year my speckled Sussex hen died during the molting stage and we have no reason why.

    Please Help My Poor Hen!

    Should I?.....

    - Quartine her

    - Feed her more protein foods

    - Give her a heat lamp

    - Or anything else

Does She Have a Disease? Has anything like this happened to you? Is she just Molting???

    Please help!

    Every piece of information helps!

It does sound like molting. If no other symptoms are present I would assume that's it. Each bird is different and they will start molting at slightly different times and each will experience more or less feather loss-usually from the head/neck downwards. Providing additional protein is helpful and try not to Handle her too much as it is painful. Best wishes.
