Hi group. Question.....I have a hen, this is her second summer, that refuses to leave the nest box. It's been more than 8 weeks. She no longer acts broody, screeching and puffing up. Just stays in the nest box. I'm worn out from taking her out of the box many times a day. I've had to close off the nest box at night or she would stay in it all night. She acts find, eats and drinks and poops like normal but has not laid an egg for months now. I cannot keep her out of the coops as they other ladies no longer have access to the nest boxes. I have tried cold water baths, putting her in a raised dog crate out of site of the other girls, putting her in with another group of mixed age hens, but no change. She's pure evil to the other hens. Any suggestions on how to rectify the situation? I can't justify keeping this free loader if there is no hope of a return to productivity.

PS: No lice or mites.

If she's not broody, then possibly she's unwell.

Crop emptying?
Worms?
Is she molting?

If production is your goal, then hen soup is very good.
