okay, then it’s probably not good. she said it isn’t very tight knit
Do you have an old pair of jeans you could sacrifice? Thinking it could be cut to fit and instead of trying to hem it bias tape could finish the edges.

my mom offered to sew, so they will be sewed now lol. i figured using old pairs of blue jeans would work. a question: is the tail cut out at the bottom necessary? thats around where my hen is getting her feathers taken out and i don't want the roosters' feet to be able to slip underneath the fabric.I've never made any no sew ones. The only ones I've seen that are no sew are basically just a cut of fleece or felt with small slits for the wings. You'd want the slits just big enough that they're a bit of a struggle to get on because of the feathers but are comfortable around the wing pit once they're on. That would keep them from slipping off easily. Personally, I like using denim on my saddles but if not sewing, it would definitely fray.
This is the standard size for mine. Since you wouldn't be sewing, you'd probably want to just cut a square about this size (don't do the tail cutout at the bottom) and put the slits in for the wings. Hopefully this helps!

No, not necessary. That's just the way I do mine. Old jeans will work greatI hope you post a picture once it's done!
I like to line mine with fleece, or the soft side of cheep raincoats.Hey, reviving this thread for a quick question!
I'm trying to make a hen saddle but it's getting hot in here! Should I still use jeans? What other fabrics can I use that won't irritate the hen's skin?
