Hen Saddles

I have a rooster who has 15 girls to himself, and apparently about 12 are his “favorite” as 12 require saddles to prevent feather damage.

For those whose girls wear saddles, have you found a favorite brand? I bought a handful of Down Under on Amazon but I’m concerned that they can’t get to their preen gland. Do you remove them every week for a day or so to allow them to dust bathe and preen?

What size did you get for which breeds?

I have the Down Under brand myself. The saddle should not interfere with their preening gland. If they're too large/long, size down and see how that fits. The elastic that goes around their wings should have a similar tightness to a dog collar (where you should be able to fit two fingers between the strap and the wing).

Hopefully you'll get some other brand recommendations here as well!
