Hen saver / apron do they really work??

Yes they work, the hens get use to having them on. They might fuss for an hour or so but they do work!

I purchased mine from Lovemychix - she is a BYC member.

My roo is also large - ok - very large compared to some of my girls. I put them on right at roost time, so they slept with them on. My BO was picky with it at first that night, and my EE accepted it like she has always worn it (she might like a hat too

). My roo has decided he does not like the one the BO wears but does not mind the one the EE wears.

Thanks everyone for the input. Which ones are better, crisscross across the breast or single straps under the wings and how about the wing protectors?? I'm definetly getting them because my roo is not aggressive to me but I guess he must be a big boy because out of my 10 hens half are bared backed, poor girls. I was just a little concerned because summer is around the corner hopefully if I get them now by summer I can remove..

My DW found the pattern on here and made our own which worked well until we seperated the roo's from the hens. Now the hens are happy and the roos are just frustrated. One roo even dances for the other roos.

I need help (new chicken mommy)
I too have a rooster who has really worn the shoulders and backs of some of my hens, tried the aprons on a couple and the whole flock freaked out running and flying away from those wearing the aprons. Has anyone else had this issue? Do they just get used to it after a little bit of time? My flock is a fairly young flock only a year old at the end of this month. Am really trying to protect their backs and wings but don’t want to upset them. I also have painless peepers because I am not sure if some of that is bullying. Because I don’t know who is bullying, am I to pin all of my flock? Any help is greatly appreciated.
