My chicks will be 5 wks on Monday. I have bought some hen scratch, and placed a small amount on the ground in their run. They don't seem to be too interested in it. Is this too early to give it too them?
Thanks for your your help.

put the age of your birds in your subject line and a "?".
My hens are 5 & 8 weeks old and they love to scratch around but they have the older girls they have probably watched and learned from. Don't give up you will get varying opinions on when to start feeding scratch but since my flock is let out to free range quite a bit they come by it naturally and I give them treats.

It won't take long for them to figure out that this is the one thing that they will love for the rest of their life! And once they do be careful!

okay thanks for the info. I wasn't sure if they were too young. They already do the scratch thing while they are eating, both treats and at their feeder. I also watch them do it on the top of my feet while in the run with them.

Also, thank you for the format help as well, for next time.
