Hen sitting on bad eggs

Are your other hens broody, staying on eggs day and night?

Got it. She tried with the first 8 after the two chicks hatched. Sat on them on and off for couple more weeks until I fgured they were no good. Okay. She is taking care of the two chicks.Going out in the backyard teaching them to scratch and eplore. I'll see if they come back later in the afternoon to the box to stay at night.

Oh had a Hawaiian hawk the other day land on a branch of a dead Ohia trees up front. The chikens started to make alarming noises to let others know of the danger. Same thing happened yesterday. I'll see if any of the chicks are missing from ther moms.

Hen came back with her 2 chicks and stayed in the box overnight. This morning everything turned over. I am thinking that it is the other chickens coming to look for food. The small container with starter food and the water is overturned with nothing.

Late afternoon, I heard the yellow chick chirping in the lot next to up on a ow branch. I guess too scared to go up t o where the mom wat. I was able to coax the chick a little closer and then hen and the black chick came down towards me. They followed me into the carport and then hen went up to the top of the shelf. I put the box there and she went in. The two chicks started to go oup the strep ladder. I helped them to the box. So they are stayng there for the night.

I counted the baby chicks that the other hens had and they are all accounted for. One has a limp and straggling behind the mom. Once she stops , it catches up. I'll have to keep an eye out for that one.
