I have a Rhode Island Red that I got on April 17 as a few day old chick.

For today, she had been squawking and clucking constantly. I have seen her go to the bathroom a few times, but is it possible she's getting ready to lay?

She has free range access, but is staying in the coop standing up and being extremely vocal.

Any suggestions on what could be happening?

Thanks!
Keri

Do they sound anything like this? I recorded them singing the pre egg song and the post egg song.

Could be that they're getting ready for the big day! Have they started squatting submissively when you approach them? That's another sure sign of impending scrambled eggs for breakfast!
