I have two hens, one of them always has calcium deposits on her eggs, and the other one usually has normal eggs. Yesterday, the normal layer layed an egg with no shell! And she's been laying less frequently in general.
Is the first one somehow taking all the calcium? How can I fix this?

What are they eating, including everything? How old are they? You do have oyster shell out there in a separate container for them?
What breeds too?
It's been hot and awful, and chickens are stressed by hot weather, maybe part of the story. Any stress can mess up their laying pattern.

They're eating layer feed, and I let them out for an hour each day to eat grass and bugs. The oyster shell is already mixed in with the feed, but I wonder if I should give them some more separately. The one with calcium deposits is a white leghorn and the other is a california white. It hasn't been too hot where I live yet but I do give them plenty of ice and shade when it is.
