hen stealing eggs

hello im some what new to chickens i have had mine for a little over 1 year. recently one of our hens has been stealing all the eggs the other hens lay and been sitting on them. she is very mean when you try to take them from her and will peck the crap out of you and she will yell for about 30 mins to 1 hour after you mange to gather the eggs from her. there hasnt been a rooster in the coop for about 6 months now something got in coop and he die protecting the hens .so i was wandering what was going on. is there something wrong with her. is there something i can do or am not doing. any help would be great

She's broody. Hormones are telling her to raise a family.
If you aren't going to give her fertile eggs to hatch, break her broodiness.
The tried and true method is to put them in a wire bottom elevated cage so cool air can get to the bottom. If you catch it early enough, it only takes a couple days.
When I have multiple broodys in the same building they steal eggs from each other.
