My roughly year and a half old polish hen is doing this weird stomping dance and fluffing out her feathers to make her look huge. Is this her way of telling the chicks that she hates them? Because she only does it when looking at them.

Sure sounds like she's warning them off.

She actually just quit on her nest. It just seems strange that she’s doing it while menacingly staring at the young birds.
Are the chicks hers...did she hatch them?

How long was she setting.....no viable eggs under her or she quit early?

How old are these chicks?
...and how long have they been in with the flock?
She quit early.
So ummm, this is actually a new flock because my parents split recently so I only managed to get two adult birds from my flock. The age of these chicks range from four to six weeks.
