Here is my story in a nutshell...i recently lost two of my 5 girls to a fox and one of the 3 that is left was almost dead because she had been also attacked. She was close with the two that died but there were 2 others she was used to hanging with. She, of course, stopped laying after that, she has lost feathers and had a wound on her back. I got her to come out a couple of days later, but she just comes close to the house and sits under the stairs or under the gazebo. She has stopped grazing altogether and certainly does not lay. I recently got 2 more chickens (10 weeks old). The other two started to beat up badly on these newbies and they haven't been laying for a while either. I gave them to the farm next door and the 2 new ones and the old girl are perching together. The little one graze outside in the run if I kick them out of the coop but the old girl still does nothing all day. Is it because she is sad and depressed and recently traumatized? Why won't she graze? I'm going to get two new older girls and hopefully that will inspire her to get her butt out there and get some good food.
