Hen talking to eggs?

Hi All,

Yet more of my hens acting like little weirdos... please see short video (13sec)

Basically one of my hens seems to talk to her egg yet has never gone broody. Often she can be seen making the clucking noise that mums make to their chicks to her egg whilst looking at the egg. Does anyone else’s hen do this? I don’t know if it’s cute or if I should feel sad for her.

There is nothing wrong. She’s just being vocal - sounds like she’s announcing that she’s found the nest. It could be excitement, anticipation... a number of different things. But just like you and I, chickens are very vocal and like to let everything know what they’re thinking - especially when it comes to anything egg related.
