Hi, I've got a 7 week old hen that seems to have injured her foot.

She's able to use her good leg to stand up and hold the injured foot up, but doesn't put any weight on the injured foot. When she sits down, the leg splays out in front of her. It's almost like the foot is paralyzed. The toes aren't curled, just kind of still. Over the last two days, I've noticed some marks on her leg and foot. I've separated her from the two roosters of the same age that I got her with, and they're showing no signs of mareks. Attached are some pictures of her foot and where the leg meets her body. It's almost like she's picking at them to get them to work, but I do worry about mites or something.

She's been eating a drinking as normal as well.

Thank you for the help!

I give my chickens of all ages egg yolk mixed with 18% or higher protein starter grower along with nutridrench. Then depending on the age an appropriate piece of B Complex with C that I have on hand for myself. It works for me for weak legs that can be from injuries. A sling chair that can be custom sized so she can keep weight off of her legs until she gets her strength back and the sprain or whatever her problem might me heals. I currently have 4 hens undergoing recovery so I know this works for me. I have hens that are 100% now that couldn't stand a couple of months ago. Hopefully someone with more years of experience can chime in and offer more information.

The B complex vitamins with C surely will not hurt. Spring Valley super b complex at Walmart is under $8. I think she may have injured her foot or leg, even her hip. Separating her inside a wire dog crate with bedding food and water would be great, and if she is near the others for most of the day, she will still remain a part of her flock. If a picture of both legs and feet together shows any green bruising or swelling, that would help.
