Hen vs. Rodent

I have something in my backyard where my 6 chickens roam -- it's either a mole or a gopher. Now that my chickens have been roaming the yard for several weeks, what might I expect? Any sort of duel or encounter between the rodent and my ladies?

Will the scent of other animals scare the mole/gopher away from my yard, or are my chickens subject to any danger -- would a mole or gopher attack a chicken? I can't imagine it would...right?

If small enough the chickens would probably just eat the rodents. If the rodents have a fancy for chicken feed, that's about all I'd think they'd do to the chickens.

If it's gophers, you won't have any run-ins.

I agree on the eating small rodents. My chickens once found a burrow of baby rabbits and ran around the yard with the poor little things in their beaks. Oh, it was awful! I didn't know they'd eat meat until that day.

We had gophers that loved to attack our apple trees. I have not had ANY problems with gophers since I got the chickens. I think they got the hell outta there!
