Hey all,
I’ve got a year and a half old hen that has been acting weird for a few days. It’s been super hot, so I initially thought she was maybe heat stressed. She acted relatively normal, just not her usual, spunky self. Today we’ve had cool, rainy weather, and when I went to check on her, I found her in rough shape.
She was laying down in the run, isolated from the other birds. She seems to have shallow, labored breaths. She keeps putting her head down and closing her eyes. She is drinking a little bit, but I haven’t seen her eat. I noticed she had diarrhea a day or two ago.
I saw on another post to try treating for coccidiosis. I have given her some corrid water. I also saw that VetRx is good for respiratory issues. I have rubbed that under her wings, chest, and back. I’ve given her some nutridrench eggs that she hasn’t touched.
Her comb is slightly pale and slightly flipped over. Not sure if she’s laying or not. I have her isolated from the flock now in a dog kennel in my house. She’s a mixed breed. None of my other birds are showing signs of illness. No signs of trauma.
Any ideas or suggestions for treatment?
