Hen weak and not moving...HELP!!

Yes, give her electrolytes, yogurt, scrambled eggs. Use a syringe if you have to. Bring her inside the house. She needs special care until she revcovers. Give her a box with a cozy thing to sit on and talk to her. She will understand you are trying to help her. I would do this right away.

But she wont eat/drink

I'm in Ohio..how do you put your location on here???And I don't think it is heat stress because she was drinkin water a couple days ago up till now
It could still be heat stress even if she was drinking. With the heat and humidity lately, they still get stressed, especially if they don't get enough electrolytes. And when they are stressed, they don't always feel like eating. You can give electrolytes in the water - Sav-a-chick, Duravet Vitamins & Electrolytes, raw ACV , among others - and through treats - cucumbers and watermelon both have high amounts of electrolytes and are some of my chickens favorites.

Even if it is not heat stress, these things will help. Bring her inside where it is cool and watch her for a while. Put her in a quiet, low light area. If it is heat stress, she should start to perk up as she cools down.

ETA - you may have to bring the water to her beak at first. Just keep lightly dipping her beak in some cool water (with electrolytes, if you have them) until she starts to show interest in drinking.

  • Use an eye dropper to drop water into her mouth,
use a syringe.
  • A small plastic bottle that has a small opening for squirting and give her liquid.
  • Put her in a cool place so she will not dehydrate.
  • Bring her in and put her feet in cool water.
  • Get a towel wet and wring it out and wrap her in the towel.

She died when I went in the coop to get her to bring her in the house, her head was ahnging out of the nestbox and her eyes was closed and i lifted her head up and she was stiff....R.I.P I love you girl

There IS Something you can try Immediately for Nourishment but will cost a little. FIRST,GET HER INSIDE & PUT HER IN A TUB AWAY FROM THE OTHERS. They will pick on her & Stress will only make her go down faster! BUY ORGANIC Coconut Oil sold at places like Sprouts is good for MANY REASONS! FIRST, its high in fat & will give her energy,2nd. IF she has an Intestinal Blockage it may help release it,3rd, THE ORGANIC (I prefer the Brand "Jarrows") has a natural ingredient called Caprylic Acid. IF its Fungal it will treat Fungal Masses,Aspergilosis, & pretty much Anything Fungal. I have been using it for Fungal & it has saved my Birds. I had to use MEALWORMS & Coconut oil since I had to get them away from the Grains. They wouldn't really even eat the Pellet or Crumble since it was too hard to digest. You can even Force a little. When you chill it gets hard so you can try chunking it into sm. pieces but use a knife & then dump it in a bowl or plate. To get it solid quick just throw it in the Freezer for 5 -10min. IF YOU CAN get Mealworms Dehydrated or BETTER the Real at Petco.
They usually sell them in a sm. frig in the Reptile area & you can get 100 for $5. Its GOOD Protein & ALSO HIGH In Vitamin A & Omegas which IF there is Fungus somewhere then it will be a dbl. punch of goodness. You May Contact me with questions if you would like. I have dealt with enough issues & have learned a lot over 10yrs.
IF SHE GOES BIG FOR THE COCONUT OIL then watch her fecals. Feel her abdomen for harness, distension, etc. ALSO Check the Crop Thoroughly for Any Bumps or masses, They will starve themselves if Fungal. You also "May" want to chop up VERY sm. bits of Grass(not Drenched) & see if she goes for it. They like Grass for Intestinal issues/Fungal.
You mentioned it was drizzling. If you are having back & Forth weather (wet then warm) you may be dealing with a Fungus or Coccidiosis.
A GREAT SITE IS "Poultrypedia.com". There is a LOT of good info. on Diseases,Drug Treatments,& Fungal Infections.
Good Luck & God Bless!

SORRY,I Just seen she Passed. I would still invest in a tub of this Coconut Oil. Its great to have around for various reasons as stated. You can also use it on yourself for Hair & skin so it won't go to waste.

I'm so sorry for your loss. It is a shock when we lose one we know personally. You did all you could for her to make her last hours better.
