I have a pet bantam d'anvers blue quail hen, a year old now, who's never laid an egg. She was an only chicken up till two months ago, and comes in the house at night and is very tame. She is definitely a she
, has been very healthy. The roosters are locked up when she goes outside or they'd mate her to death.
Her comb and around her eyes is a healthy pinkish red. I got her free on Craigslist from a breeder because she had a white feather beneath one wing, disqualifying her from show.
This is a picture of her from October of last year, when she was six months old (at least). The skin around her beak is a darker red currently.
Anyway, I've never heard of this sort of thing before. A healthy, vigorous hen who doesn't lay eggs.
