A few days ago, my lavender Orpington hen was cornered by my lamb. We don't know how long she was in there or what he exactly did to her. She has a very bad limp. I'm not sure if her foot is just sprained, or if it's actually broken. It looks normal. No swelling. She has been secluded for about a week, but doesn't seem to be getting better. She still lays an egg every day. How can I help her??

I'm sorry you are having to deal with this right now.

Can you post a few pictures of her...her foot and how she stands.

I don't know why it sent multiples of the same picture. She seems somewhat perky. She still wants to hunt for bugs, but she limps a lot while doing it.

I'm trying to figure out how to help my chicken with a hurt foot. What happened to your chicken?

Looks like the OP hasn't been back online since.

What is wrong with your hen's foot?
Have you checked for signs of bumble foot?

Thanks for the response. All of the sudden she had lost muscle control of her foot. When she walks her toes are limp and they curl under her foot. She has no infections that I can see. She has a healthy diet and eats well. I'm just not sure it's Marek's or an injury.

It can be hard to tell Mareks from say, a riboflavin deficiency or an injury. I would try to post a video to You Tube of her walking, then post a link here for us to view it. Then start her on some form of riboflavin (vitamin B 1) in poultry vitamins added to water, a crushed B complex tablet in food, or Polyvisol no iron vitamins for babies2-3 drops daily. Make sure that she is getting to food and water, or crate her right next to her own. Mareks may be a possibility, but it helps to rule out other possibilities first.

How is your hen today?
