So we culled her tonight. After some discussion with my DH, we decided that subjecting her to treatment, isolation for healing up, and then going forward with our plan to cull all the 2.5 year olds (which she was) for stew birds, it wasn't really worth the hassle or stress on the bird. I did necropsy her face, and it wasn't pussy or cheesy or anything like that leapt out as INFECTION to me. It was a solid, tissue-y mass It had gotten large enough that it was interfering with her vision AND she had the beginning of another one in the same spot on the opposite side of her face. I did check in her mouth to see if maybe it was canker, and I saw no signs of infection there either.
My best guess is that it was some kind of fast-growing tumor/cancer or something.
