We really need her to share the nest since her 14 sisters are limited to 3 boxes while she's in the 4th, so I'll try keeping taking her out and try to break the broody spell she's under. What about that feather issue? We're going to have sub zero nights this weekend. If I convince her to get out, she's going to have goose bumps on her chicken skin! If she stays in the box, I suppose she'll be ok.
They do have a heat lamp over their roosting ladder, but if she decides to come out of the box, I'm worried the other ladies might start pecking on that nice pink skin if they see it while she's on the roost. I already have one poor girl in a cage because they loved her back feathers so much. I can't let her out for a minute without them chasing her down. In fact, she managed to get out somehow a few days ago, and her back that had been practically recovered was pecked back to bare and bleeding skin again before in just a few hours.
