Hi. I went to my chicken run today to find one of my chickens with a black ear lobe. Can anyone help me identify what this is?

To give a little more info, these are my family's fist chickens. We have two Orpingtons, one which turned out to be a rooster... and two isa browns. They have a 10x16 run that since we planted our garden they have been kept in. They are 3.5 months old and the other three look healthy. The injured one is the sweetheart of the group and I am wondering if this is from the rooster or something else.

Please see attached picture and thanks for your help!

Hi Brahma,
Thank you for replying.

Yes, it appears to be blood. I am not sure if it is from the rooster pecking her or if flies or other insects can cause this. Is the ear lobe a common place for birds to peck?
