Yesterday I noticed that my 2-year old black sex-link hen had a droopy tail, was sort of lethargic, had a water balloon crop, and didn't eat much. I noticed only one pile of poop under the roosting pole from the night before (I have 2 hens). There is some runny diarrhea in the coop which might be hers. There was barely any food eaten yesterday either. She didn't seem interested in doing anything when I let them out. She didn't even want treats. I turned her upside down and vomited her. It was watery and smelled bad. I read later that this is a horrible thing to do and I wish I hadn't done it. I went to the store and bought the generic 3-day Monistat started giving it to her last night. I followed it up with some Greek yogurt. I put ACV in the water as well. I gave her another bit of Monistat this morning with more yogurt. There was a tiny bit of white runny poop with a watery spot under her roosting pole spot this morning. Also, she was "hunkered down" on her pole. The other hen was standing normally and the sick one was squating very low on it. Her breathing seemed fine this morning.
I don't know if this is a fungal ingection, yeast problem, or a digestive issue. I am going to thoroughly wash the coop with Oxine when I get home today. I could put that in the water as well, though I read not together with the ACV. I will make her a mash of apple, garlic, yogurt, and gentian violet (have to buy some on the way home), and feed that to her tonight. I have read multiple posts and everybody has different ideas on what has worked for them. I just don't know what to do.
Any ideas?
Melinda
