In the Brooder
First time I had a young chicken with a broken leg, it was limping around. She must have landed wrong on something the night or morning before. Luckily a vet I know also treated birds, so I took my hen to be checked.
I was given three options; put her to sleep, have an expensive operation or place her in a small container.
Had an old dog crate, placed the hen in with her own food an water bowels, for about 3 weeks, she eventually healed. But everyday she would talk/squawk to me about not running around with her flock members.
I promised my hens as long as they gave eggs, they can retired out then get eaten as some owners may do.
She still has a slight limp, but happy to be alive.
