My hen has a protruding bubble at the vent. I have been getting eggs for several days with a little blood on them and they must be from her. She is acting and eating normally tho. What can I do to help her?
Thanks,
Lindsay

Hi, we have the same problem with one of our Pekins, shes 2 years old, we've tried pushing it back after smearing the area with honey, and also used Anusol (couldn't get Preparation H but the chemist said it was the same thing), sometimes it stays in for a couple of days othertimes it popped back out straightaway
you can feel her pushing on it as you push it back in
apart from the prolapse she seems fine in herself, any other ideas what we could try, we dont what to have her "dispatched" if we dont need to as she doesnt seem to be in any distress
thanks
Sue

I hate to see those with prolapse dispatched too, but many times it's the only option after a while.

i thought that may be the case, the only other thing someone suggested was to put a couple of stitches in to help hold it in, has anyone had any luck doing that ?
thanks
Sue
