Thankyou for the advicePoor little lady. Sounds/looks like it might be a cyst or a localized abscess, especially since it is near her eye and beak.
While it’s great that she’s eating, drinking, and behaving normally, any swelling that seems to grow could be a sign it needs attention. Unfortunately, there's no quick fix like ointments or gels for this kind of swelling.
The best approach would likely be having a vet take a look to see if it's something that needs to be drained or if it can be safely managed. In the meantime, you can keep the area clean, but avoid trying to pop or squeeze it, as that could lead to infection. If it starts affecting her vision or causing discomfort, definitely seek professional help. Keep an eye on her behavior, and if anything changes, like lethargy or changes in eating/drinking habits, definitely get her checked out.
For the cyst/boil:
If it’s hard/fixed, could be a lipoma or abscess—vet check highly recommended.
- Warm Compress 2-3x daily (5 mins) to encourage drainage.
- Betadine Dilution (1:10 with water) gently applied—avoid eyes.
- Veterycin Antimicrobial Gel (or similar) to prevent infection.
Ok thankyou I'll try to take a pictureIs the lump soft or hard? A hard place might be a cyst or tumor. A soft lump might be an abscess or respiratory infection. It would be good to see your actual hen’s lump instead of another picture. In the area of the face, sinus infection from MG can cause swelling of the face or around the eye. A peck wound or insect sting might cause swelling or abscess. I would watch it, feel of it, see if it grows. A respiratory disease may make them lethargic, and other symptoms, such as watery or bubbly eye, nasal drainage, sneeze, or gasping may occur. Let us know if it increases in size.
You're welcome. Hoping all goes well.Thankyou for the advice

What does the inside of the beak look like?View attachment 4087920
Here she is. The lump feels hard
Last year I had some hens sneezing after giving them Denagard they were good. Checked her eyes and no bubbles think it was the reflection. Inside her beak looks normal. Should I give them Denagard again? , just to be safeWhat does the inside of the beak look like?
I see what looks like bubbles in the eye, this could indicate respiratory disease like Mycoplasma.
Have you ever had respiratory illness within your flock, or treated them for respiratory symptoms in the past?
Tylosin or Tiamulin (Denagard) are both commonly used to treat respiratory illness like Mycoplasma.
The swelling under the eye may be due to respiratory infection.
If you have Denagard on hand, you may want to treat her to see if it helps.Last year I had some hens sneezing after giving them Denagard they were good. Checked her eyes and no bubbles think it was the reflection. Inside her beak looks normal. Should I give them Denagard again? , just to be safe
