Hen with chicks laying???

I live outside of Columbia, off 206 (Liberty road). Thanks for the tip. It never dawned on me that she might be trying to leave them!! I live on my dad's place, and he atm has a game hen that he put RIR, BR and who knows what kind of chicks with. She still has them, but they are bigger than she is. I guess since I have never seen a game chick, the fact that they're so small made it seem like a bad thing!

We looked into moving to the Liberty area, but needed to be closer to work in Nashville for my husband. I know of one other person on here who lives in the Columbia area. And one that lives in the Somerset area also.
We have one (OEG) roo and a (Sebright mix) hen with one baby, and it is the smallest thing ever! She also hatched out a Silkie/BR mix chick at the same time. The game chick is half the size as the bantum mix (and they are 5 weeks now). If the babies are getting up on the roost now I would say they are just fine. They might even snuggle under the other chickens.

I had a hen that just hatched yesterday, and her chicks are so small that they can go THROUGH THE CHICKEN WIRE!!!! I mean really, if the chicken wire won't work, what good is it?? They are Dutch and (I was told) Egyptian mixes, but they are soooo tiny. I believe that I have spoken with both the people you refered to. If I am correct, the one in Somerset is bying some baby BTW japs off me next week, and the one in Columbia area is supposed to pick them up lol!

It's always neat to find people that live close by, here on the site!
Yeah, our little game chick (that's a month old, named Bumblebee) can still walk through our fence. And can still push through the chicken wire! But it comes back and still doesn't wander too far from mama!

A month old and can still get through the wire?? Wow, it must be very tiny!! My little guys keep getting their tiny wings stuck, but they are determined to disobey. I told my dad they must be boys!!
