Hen with Diarrhea - Gangrene!?! **UPDATED with PHOTO**

Other than the diarrhea she has no symptoms. She has been on pedialyte, scrambled eggs, yogurt, warm mash for 5 days. Whatever is going on back there smells like rotting flesh. I could try antibiotics and use antibiotic ointment on her vent but its not likely she will recover to the point of being able to lay.

Really, loralei, if it was my hen, I'd put her down if you don't want to or can't go the vet route. Sorry I can't be more help on this one.

If it's her stool, and it's black that would be internal bleeding. I've never seen anything like that. I wonder if it's scab from the outside skin or buildup from fluid coming out?

I'm also wondering if it is dried fluid or other debris. Maybe try one more warm soak and see if the edges loosen?

I would also recommend a vet. If you can't afford the bill all at once make payment arrangements. Most will do that. Please keep us posted.

Hubby already took care of it for me speckledhen. She was only going to suffer. What was going on was bad and was only going to get worse. It was the kindest thing to do.
