Hen with dime sized hole pecked in back

Yes they were living in a greenhouse with two roosters. They have an orchard now to themself. I was giving black oil sunflower and 20 grower and when they started laying again i give them layer pellets now. They stop laying last week. I can give tuna, what about salmon? The orchard is dry so i scatter food for them to eat so they dont fight. I also give barley at night if its windy.
They should all be about a year an a half, so about to have first molt. My other regular birds are molting hard, same age, but these girls seems not yet. Orchard is big and they explore and things. Maybe just one mean bird? We already had to take out one and gve to the rooster because she would grab the others feathers and hold even when they try to run away! Maybe there is another like her i havent found yet. I will take out the naked ones and maybe the mean one will be left obvious. They have no lice mites i check often especially with rescues
20%grower would be good, black oil sunflower seeds are fine as a treat. You can give salmon, that's ok.

If you have warm weather she should be ok outside separated from the others. Keep watch on the wound that flies do not get on it, the flies can lay eggs on a wound, then you would have maggots.

Keep us posted on her progress.

where do i get vetricyn? I will not put her back with them i will put her with my nice hens when her back heals. I think she was laying an egg ( they lay underbush in the orchard) and someone else wanted that nest is why maybe.

I'm not sure where you would purchase vetricyn in Canada. Most feed stores have it where I live. You can go to your local store and ask for it, they should be able to get it for you or find a different store that carries it. If not you may need to purchase it online. Sorry about your poor hen and good luck with her :)

I check today. The whole thing seems very dry so i fill hole with triple polysporin and spray with bactine? Antiseptic spray with painkiller so no itching. Might be better for no pick. She seems well otherwise. Maybe i take picture tomorrow. Will this ever heal? Is so deep.

Two days and dried up, healing, and normal otherwise?

Impressed. Can't wait to see an updated pic.

Good job CricketFarm!

this after i spray with spray ( in picture) and fill with ointment (in picture). The area an inch around the hole is raised but i kind of expect it when such a big hole. What you think?

I was wondering last night how your girlie was doing. I think it looks good. Clean anyway. That ridge is probably from torn flesh.

Is she walkin', talkin' and eatin' normally?

Yes she is. She is on org

Yes she is she is on organic 25% game bird mix and feathers are going back already. She is still laying eggs and walking around scratching and whatnot.
