Went to put up my girls tonight and noticed one was hesitant and a bit lethargic. Caught her and found an egg covered crud hanging from her rear. I have had chickens for years and never had a problem like this, please advise how I should proceed.
I can cull if needed but I know they can be surprisingly resilient with the right care.

Oh no, I’m so sorry this didn’t get a response sooner. How is she? Do you have her inside away from flies and the others? If it won’t stress her out get her soaking in an Epsom salt bath or just rinse that off with som saline but then most importantly, cover that in some honey or ointment (w/out plain relief). Also get 300-600 mg of human vitamin calcium citrate plus d3 into her stat.

I’m going to tag some people who can help more @Wyorp Rock @azygous @Eggcessive

I haven’t had to help anyone with an egg stuck, so I don’t want to tell you anything wrong. But let me link a very helpful article by azygous, also.

Sorry that she seems to have a prolapse and is egg bound at the same time. Do you have any calcium tablets or Tums where you can give her one orally? I would keep the prolapse from drying out with ointment, or oil, and try to fin pd an opening where you can get the egg out. Is a vet possible at this hour to help get it out?

Best thing is probably put her down I don't think that is fix a bull sorry

Thank you for the help

Soaked her in warm water and epsom salts. Cleaned all the poop from feathers and prolapse, freed the egg so it was not dried and stuck. Had to make a small incision in a spot with no blood vessels and the egg came out intact. she is resting in a dark place I will try and get calcium into her as soon as I can find some.

Just keep it moist and from drying out with what you have. Honey, vaseline, hemorrhoid cream, or oil are fine.
fed her most of a tum and I gave her a healthy coat of prepH
She seems exhausted no interest in eating or drink at the moment.
in a dark place resting. Update pic included in case it helps someone else.
