Sorry my mistake, my husband has been doing the meds. There are two things in the same box - the other is Denagard -

Medi-Honey is used as a wound dressing for humans and animals and is specifically treated (gamma irradiated I believe) to be safe for surgical use, so it is quite a bit more expensive than ordinary honey you would eat. Honey and propolis are both products of the bees and have antibiotic properties which can aid in the healing of difficult wounds. I believe they are sometimes used on MRSA infections that are resistant to regular antibiotics. If you cannot source or fund Medi Honey dressings, I would try to obtain some raw honey from a local producer..... the stuff in the store is usually heat treated and blended and no longer real honey. You can buy ointments that contain propolis if you want to try that instead. But maybe a topical antibiotic cream might be worth trying if your vet will not prescribe any more oral /systemic antibiotics.

Denagard is a drug that treats mycoplasma, which could treat synovitis or a joint disease caused by mycoplasma. It also treats MG, the respiratory form of mycoplasma, and in pigs will treat E.coli, pastuerella, spriochetosis, and other diseases. It tastes bad, so many mix it with flavors or canned cat food to get chickens to take it.

lol, yeah I realised that when she kept moving the food we'd put the denagard in to get to just about anything else. Instead I've been mixing into layer's pellets with a bit of luke warm water and cheese and a few meal worms and giving it first thing as a small mash to her in the broody cage where I've isolated her, before offering any other feed. It does seem to be going in that way.

It seems that some chickens with feathered legs will suffer from some pretty bad leg problems, and sometimes it is hard to notice early because of the feathers. The meloxicam was a good idea to treat the inflammation, and using an antibiotic as well to try and treat the infection was a good thing. Let us know how the drugs and the treatment of the leg mites goes. Hopefully, it will improve.
