well....
i just cooked up a scrambled egg, and made some fresh electrolyte tea for my sick girl, which she dove right into....
and siezured to death about 5 minutes into her meal.
i suspect her esophagus/throat was injured or crushed in the 'incedent' and she just choked.
sad.
but still quite perplexed as to what exactly happened to her in the night. no other hen is showing any signs of injury or even stress.
could our rooster have tried to kill her? he isnt exactly friendly to the girls in his times of 'love'...but i cant imagine him doing this.
not to mention the flesh tearing was on the FRONT of her throat.
my friend josh in Vermont ( we are in MT) seems to think it was an earmine attack, but i have three girls that refuse to roost and sleep on the floor of the shed.
you'd think if a predator came in, they'd be the first to go.
this particular girl slept 10 ft up on a roost/ceiling rafter with the rest of the flock.
sigh.
p.s. water back on. (cue sad and joyous angels singing in harmony)
