Update on my hen Lola. We thought she was doing better and we're looking forward to putting her back in the coop tonight. Unfortunately this morning I noticed her prolapse coming back out a little. She has still laid since this happened. Even with keeping her in the dark majority of the day. I've been cleaning her vent with betadine and using the prep H a couple times a day. Ive also been putting vitamins and electrolytes in her water. I noticed today that her poops have changed colors and consistency. this evening when I got off work I picked her up to exam her and lightly felt her tummy area, and poop shot out her vent. She still seems to be eating and drinking fine. It obviously can take a while for a prolapse to heal. Her vent still seems to be continually contracting. Maybe this is normal maybe not. . Any other advise as to what to do?

Are you still keeping her in the dark as much as possible? Try feeding her scratch grains. You can also limit the amount of food you are feeding her. The fewer times a day she has to use her vent, the sooner she will heal.
