Hen with lead poisoning, now possibly egg bound, OR?? Help please!

Reading that a recent round of antibiotics could be the cause. I was able to get her to eat a few pills hidden in tomatoes and grapes before she caught on. Maybe this messed up the flora in her stomach!

Also looks like egg yolk peritonitis and lead poisoning can lead to sour crop. :(

It's interesting to me that she has both hardware disease AND egg yolk peritonitis as I had a girl (only a year old) last year who had both as well as confirmed by a bird doc. Unfortunately she did pass, but I can't help but wonder whether the hardware triggers the EYP??

Oh gosh, I didn't even consider that. But you might be right since her crop has been so full. Do you think that's why she's smacking her lips? Do you know what I mean? She smacks her mouth a lot and shakes her head after eating and drinking. Like she has a bad taste in her mouth, I was starting to think that was related to the lead poisoning, but maybe not.
Yes, I do know what you mean. Here is yet again another website for you to check out.

Thanks, @AidKD! I saw this article as well. It was a good one!

@Matzwd not sure if the lead poisoning triggers the EYP, but my vet said it can be pretty hard on their systems. She was on EDTA for about a month. I guess I wouldn't be surprised if they are linked somehow.

She finally pooped late this afternoon. It was milky white but it didn't stink. Perhaps the sour crop is just getting going. Now I'm wondering if I should keep giving her the Doxycycline. It's a pill, so I wonder if I do give it to her, will it dissolve in her crop and help with everything or just makes things worse. Guess that's tonight's research.

She is giving me hope. I just gave her a bit of watermelon and she got really excited and ate quite a bit. I plan to remove all water and food till morning to see if her crop goes down overnight.

Thanks again for all your help.

I would try to work mainly on the sour crop

Glad things are finally starting to get better!
